Devlog 03: More Prototyping

Hello and welcome to our third devlog!

This week we bring you some news.
After coming together and looking at the prototype from last week, we decided that the game's scope was too big for us. So we walked some steps back and came up with a brand new game idea!
We worked really hard this week to have an actual playable and fun prototype.

Art

The art bible is completely finished. Our art style is now clearly laid out and ready to begin the 3D stages. Even though our game has changed a lot, the art will mostly remain the same as we first had in mind.  We will try to create a hand painted effect with gradients with some hand painted details. Underneath you can find an example.

Prototype

This time we managed to have a playable prototype that includes a good part of the mechanics we need for the final goal.
We didn't have as many issues this week and we realized just how big our scope was for the previous project.
In this new game, the players challenge each other in teams of two in a battle against time.
Each team has a designated base to which they have to bring the dinosaur eggs that will randomly spawn in the level.
Not only this, but the players can also collect seeds around the map and quickly plant them into the ground. As soon as a seed is planted, a plant will appear and it will start shooting anyone in the opposite team!
When you get shot, you are stunned for some seconds and whatever you were holding immediately breaks.
To make everything a bit more interesting, we thought of making it so that the players of a team can steal the eggs from the goal of the other one and vice versa.
The winner is of course the team that by the end of the countdown has the more amount of eggs!

We are still planning on adding extra powers for the plants and more sabotaging interactions between the two teams to make everything even more spicy. We hope that you enjoy this new game idea as much as we enjoyed working on its little prototype!

Thank you for the read, and see you next week!
